The Claddagh (An Cladach,) meaning “the shore” was the name of the village in Galway where the Claddagh originated. The Claddagh design consists of two hands clasping a heart, surrounded by a crown. The heart being a symbol of love, the hands symbolizing friendship and the crown symbolizing loyalty.

Charm bracelets have always been popular in Irish culture. Traditionally girls would own two in their lifetime, one whilst growing up and one after marriage. The bracelet would hold charms that represented their hobbies, religion and interests.
Nowadays brands are designing more and more quirky designs, for example the thatched cottage and map of Ireland charms from the Tara’s Diary collection.
