We’ve compiled our list of the top 10 Irish towns and villages that capture the heart of Ireland, as chosen by The Irish Store family. It was tough to get to a final 10- -there’s so much to choose from! But I think you’ll agree- these gems are filled with charm, history, and incredible scenery. Let’s dive into our favorite spots!

Nestled in the Garden of Ireland, Delgany exudes tranquility. Surrounded by lush greenery and just a stone’s throw from the Wicklow Mountains. This picturesque village boasts artisan cafes, historic architecture, and a welcoming community spirit.
2. Dunmore East, County Waterford.

Number 2 on our list takes us to the sunny southeast and the charming town of Dunmore East in County Waterford. Tucked into a valley that gently slopes toward the sea, this picturesque harbor town offers the perfect setting for a romantic beach walk. Here, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the Saltee Islands, Waterford Harbor, and the iconic Hook Lighthouse.
3. Eyeries, County Cork.
Time to head to the magical beauty of West Cork for number 3! On the Beara Peninsula, Eyeries is a colorful gem that’s hard to forget. Known for its vibrant houses and breathtaking Atlantic views, it’s a paradise for photographers and outdoor enthusiasts. The peaceful surroundings make it a perfect spot to unwind.
4. Kenmare, County Kerry.

Nestled between the Ring of Kerry and the Ring of Beara, Kenmare is a haven of beauty and charm. Its colorful streets are filled with boutique shops, art galleries, and cozy pubs. Kenmare’s surrounding landscapes are an absolute wonderland showcasing Ireland’s natural beauty at its finest.

So next up we’re off to another of the many jewels in the Kingdom of Kerry. Famous for its lively music scene and gourmet food, this coastal town is a must-see. The stunning Dingle Peninsula offers some of Ireland’s most spectacular scenery, from rugged cliffs to sandy beaches.
6. Roundstone, County Galway

We now venture into the rugged Connemara landscape in County Galway. Roundstone is a postcard-perfect village nestled along Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way. Nearby, the pristine beaches of Gurteen and Dog’s Bay offer unparalleled beauty and are great places for a swim!
7. Adare, County Limerick
Often called Ireland’s prettiest village, Adare is a storybook come to life. Feast your eyes on thatched cottages, medieval ruins, and manicured gardens. A must see on any Irish trip and one of my all time favorites!
8. Drumcliff, County Sligo

Now to my favorite County Sligo! Drumcliff is a tranquil village steeped in history and culture. Nestled beneath the majestic Benbulben mountain, it’s the final resting place of poet W.B. Yeats. Visitors can explore its ancient round tower and churchyard. Another must-visit spot on Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way.
9. Glencolmcille, County Donegal

Heading even further north now to the rugged landscapes of Donegal. Glencolmcille is a haven for history buffs and nature lovers. Its rich Gaelic culture and ancient stone monuments make it a fascinating destination. Don’t miss the Glencolmcille Folk Village, a charming replica of a traditional Irish village. The surrounding cliffs and beaches offer breathtaking views.
10. Carlingford, County Louth

Last but not least, Carlingford is a medieval wonder nestled by Carlingford Lough in County Louth. Its cobbled streets, ancient castles, and lively pubs create a unique blend of old-world charm and modern vibrancy.
