Lulu’s Guide to Planning The Perfect St. Patrick’s Day.
Hello everyone and welcome back to my countdown to St.Patrick’s Day. With only 2 weeks to go, the excitement is definitely building here at The Irish Store and we’ve been busy making sure you get all you need in time for the big day. When it comes to the big occasions, I always think it’s good to put a plan in place so here’s my own personal guide to the perfect St.Patrick’s Day. It may not go exactly to that plan but that’s part of the fun too!
1. Go For A Walk.
Ok, I know what you must be thinking- we’re going to be walking on a parade today-isn’t that enough! True, but I love starting the day with a long invigorating walk by myself, nice and early before the rest of the world wakes up and the festivities of the day kick in. As I mentioned last week, I’m going to be in Sligo so I’ll be lucky enough to take one of my favorite walks along Streedagh Beach in the shadow of the magnificent Benbulben. That’s it in the photo above-I hope we get those blue skies on St Patrick’s Day!
2. Eat a Full Irish Breakfast
It’s going to be a long day so set yourself up with a hearty Irish breakfast. There’s nothing like the smell of sizzling sausages, bacon and black and white pudding to get those taste buds going and if you’re one of our many American cousins, you can order your very own Irish breakfast food basket from the Irish Store. As well as the essentials, we’ve added real Irish butter, scones and everyone’s favorite Barry’s Tea.
If you want to keep breakfast light, why not order our Flavors of Ireland food basket. There are homemade Irish preserves for your morning toast which will go down well with some Bewley’s Dublin Morning tea. There’s also scrumptious cookies, home-baked Irish fruitcake and Butlers famous chocolates for when you need a sugar hit later!
3. Put On Your Finest Green
Time for the all-important outfit. Whether it’s the classic Aran sweater (my personal favorite). a comfy Ireland sweatshirt or going the whole hog with face-paint and leprechaun hats, planning your outfit is essential. There’s nothing worse than frantically searching your wardrobe the night before for something green!
4. Make a Pot of Irish Stew
Yes- more food, we need to keep our strength up! This is a great one-pot meal which is perfect for feeding lots of people if you’re having a crowd over. Grab a quick bowl before you go on the parade if you’ve still got room after your big breakfast! Click on to the video below where myself and some of The Irish Store team show you how to make this much loved Irish dish. This particular recipe comes from my Mum. Delicious!
5. Time to Parade!
The highlight of the day! Soak up the atmosphere and revel in the celebration of all things Irish. All that marching and cheering is thirsty work so I’d say I ‘ll be dropping into the pub to raise a glass of the Black Stuff-did you know that a staggering 13 million pints of Guinness are consumed worldwide on St. Patrick’s Day!
any trouble sleeping on St.Patrick’s night after such an action-packed day. However you choose to spend yours, I’m sure it will be a day to remember. If you’re still haven’t done all your shopping for the big day, don’t worry, there’s still time to order from The Irish Store – but time is running out! The last order date for St. Patrick’s Day worldwide delivery, including the US, is 6 March. Order St Patricks Day gifts today and get a free Irish Store St. Patrick’s Day pin while stocks last.
