Cast a line with your Father in one of Ireland’s many fantastic fishing locations. Ireland is one of the most popular fishing areas in Europe with calm inland lakes, dramatic coastal waters and fresh river waters dispersed throughout the country guaranteeing a plentiful supply of fresh fish. The country’s massive variety and quality of fishing have given the country an enviable reputation that draws fishermen from all over the world on a year-round basis. From Lough Corrib in Connemara to Waterville in Co Kerry to Delphi in Co Mayo, there’s a huge variety to choose from.
7. Pub Crawl
Pub and bars dominate Ireland’s capital city Dublin. Go for a pint with your dad in Dublin’s famous Templebar. Follow the cobblestone roads and hop from bar to bar. Enjoy a pint of the black stuff in many of the traditional Irish pubs whilst listening to Irish music. Wander down to Ireland’s oldest pub, The Brazen Head or visit Dublin’s smallest pub, the Dawson Lounge where you can literally shout your order from any part of the pub. Try out all the craft Irish beers in many of the new up and coming craft beer pubs and sample the many great beers Ireland has to offer with your old man.

5. Whiskey Tasting
Learn all about Ireland’s most famous Whiskey, Jameson, at the Old Jameson Distillery in Smithfield, Dublin. The old distillery is a unique experience with some of the buildings dating back to 1795. Learn about the fascinating process of making this world-renowned whiskey and taste some for yourself. A memorable day out sure to leave you with a warm merry feeling after.
Ireland is filled with over 400 of the most beautiful Golf courses. Courses surrounded by majestic mountain drops, scenic coastal views and never-ending green fields. If you don’t mind crossing paths with the odd sheep or two, you’ve found the ultimate golfing spot. Ireland has produced many top golfers including Rory Mcllroy and Padraig Harrington and has held international tournaments including the European open and the Ryder Cup. Examples of these beautiful golf courses include Portmarnock in Dublin, Royal Portrush in Antrim, Ballybunion in Kerry and Rosses Point in Sligo. Try a round of golf with your Father on one of these world-renowned courses.
3. Dublin Museums
If he likes his history, he’ll love the museums Dublin has to offer. From the National Museum of Ireland to the Natural History Museum and many many more. Most of them are located in and around Dublin city centre and are free of charge adding to the enjoyment of this great experience.
2. Croke Park
Known to many as Ireland’s most sacred grounds, Croke Park is the stadium where Ireland’s two national sports, hurling and Gaelic football, are played. With a capacity of over 80,000, it is the fourth largest stadium in Europe. Watch a game of hurling with your Father, the world’s fastest game played on grass or enjoy a game of GAA football, a game filled with speed and skill. “Croker” is something of a hidden secret for tourists, few actually coming here to watch the games. The best time to get tickets is usually around May at the start of the season. To go and see a game of either hurling or football at Croke Park is to sample a unique slice of Irish life and a great experience to share with your Father.
1. Guinness Brewery
Take a trip to where it all started, the home of the black stuff. Guinness is one of the world’s most renowned beers, known in every corner of the world… It originated in 1759 the brewery of Arthur Guinness at St James’s Gate, Dublin. Take a tour of the Brewery, learn how Guinness is made, learn the technique of pouring the perfect pint then enjoy your own pint at the sky bar whilst looking out at Dublin city. The perfect quality time with your Father.
