My last name is McGilly. I had my family heritage traced back to my grandfather Patrick McGilly and his grandfathers grandfather. That put my family name back as far as1750 to a John McGilly. He wasn’t born in the town. From what the historian said he mover there from an un known place in Ireland. My family heritage was found to have come from Newtounbuttler Clgher County, Fermanagh, Ireland. ( today it is one of the six counties to the north ). There was a small farm in that area belonging to the McGilly’s. Today it no longer belongs to the McGilly family. I want to know where the name McGilly came from and what part of Ireland.
Hi Edward,
