The main stitch here is the diamond, a depiction of the Islander fisherman’s nets and said to be knit into Aran sweaters of old to ensure a plentiful catch at sea. It’s filled with the moss stitch, named after the Carrageen moss seaweed which was collected by the Island dwellers from the shores of the Atlantic.
