Hi everyone! I hope you're all doing wonderfully this week. As we head into the summer, I've been thinking a lot about the incredible bond between Ireland and the United States -a connection forged through centuries of emigration, shared stories, and the enduring pride of the Irish diaspora.

With an estimated 32 million Americans claiming Irish heritage, Ireland's spirit lives on in every corner of the US. And what a year to celebrate that bond!

America turns 250 years old this 4th of July- a truly momentous milestone. So what better way to mark it than with a little Irish road trip? Today I'm taking you to the beautiful province of Munster, a region of breathtaking landscapes, ancient history, and vibrant culture. Buckle up!

Top 5 Places to Visit in Munster.

1. Blarney Castle and Gardens

Blarney Castle stands amidst lush greenery and bluebell flowers under a partly cloudy sky. The structure features several towers and walls, with remnants of older buildings nearby, suggesting a historic landscape.

First up — and a firm favorite with our American visitors is the iconic Blarney Castle in County Cork.

This magnificent medieval fortress is steeped in history and folklore, and its most famous feature is, of course, the Blarney Stone. Legend has it that kissing the stone bestows the "gift of the gab", and if there's one thing the Irish and Americans have in common, it's a love of great conversation!

County Cork is also home to the wonderful craftspeople at Lee River, who have been crafting the finest handmade leather goods at their converted mill since 1874.

The Mary Day Bag is one of our 5-star customer favorites here at The Irish Store — a beautifully crafted piece of Irish heritage you can carry with you every day.

2. The Rock of Cashel

Rising dramatically from the County Tipperary plains, the Rock of Cashel is one of Ireland's most spectacular archaeological sites.

This ancient fortress dates back over a thousand years and its silhouette against a golden Irish sky is simply unforgettable. Many Irish-Americans trace their roots to Tipperary, and standing here, you can feel that history in every stone.

The gardens were designed by Harold Peto for Annan Bryce and his wife Violet in 1910, and thanks to the unique microclimate of this sheltered corner of Ireland, exotic plants from around the world flourish here in extraordinary abundance.
