Wrap Up in Irish Comfort: Discover Our Irish Wool Blankets & Throws
Written by Lulu O'Sullivan

Hi everyone. I hope I find you all well this week as cozy season well and truly sets in. Ask anyone in Ireland what makes a house feel like a home and sooner or later they'll mention a good wool blanket.
In my family, there was always one folded on the back of the sofa, ready for rainy afternoons, late-night chats by the fire and the odd sneaky nap. Now that the days are shortening and the heating is creeping back on, I've been gathering up my favorites to share with you.
Irish wool has been keeping families warm for generations, and the stitches woven into our Aran blankets carry stories of their own, from the lucky honeycomb to the stone-walled fields of the Aran Islands.
Below are five of my favorite Irish wool blankets and throws, each one a little piece of Ireland for your home.
Our Top 5 Irish Wool Blankets & Throws
1. Traditional Aran Honeycomb Wool Throw-Available Here
If you want the quintessential Irish blanket, this is it. It's covered in the classic honeycomb stitch, the Aran Islanders' tribute to the hardworking honeybee and said to bring good fortune.
Made from 100% pure new wool it comes in rich charcoal, soft beige, earthy green or traditional cream, so it'll sit beautifully on any couch or bed. It's also one of my go-to gifts for a new home or newlyweds.
2. Mc Nutt Lambswool Check Throw-Available Here
For a more modern Irish look, I adore this lambswool check throw from Mc Nutt of Donegal.
It takes a traditional Irish plaid and gives it a fresh twist, with a choice of muted seascape shades inspired by the wild Donegal coast or a vibrant, colorful blend. Soft, light and full of character, it's perfect draped over the arm of a chair.
3. Aran Sheep Throw-Available Here
This one always makes me smile. It pairs a classic pure wool Aran design with a charming sheep trim, a playful nod to the woolly friends you'll spot on every Irish hillside.
Warm, cozy and full of fun, it's made for snuggly nights in and would be a lovely addition to a child's room or a country-style living space.
4. Fisherman Classic Aran Wool Blanket-Available Here
A perennial customer favorite, this gorgeously soft Aran blanket is crafted and hand-finished in County Dublin, near the picturesque fishing village of Howth.
It features the lucky honeycomb stitch alongside the traditional trellis stitch, which symbolizes the stone-walled fields of the Aran Islands and was once knitted into Aran sweaters to protect the wearer. Timeless, warm and quintessentially Irish.
5. Shamrock Merino Wool Blanket-Available Here
Nothing says Ireland quite like the shamrock, and this super-soft merino wool blanket shows it off in a striking border. It also features the lucky Aran honeycomb stitch, traditionally believed to bring good fortune.
Made in the west of Ireland, it's a beautiful way to bring the luck of the Irish into your home and it'll keep you warm all year round.
Wrap Up in a Little Piece of Ireland
Whether you're treating yourself or looking for a meaningful gift for someone you love, an Irish wool blanket is something that gets used, loved and passed down for years. So light the fire, put the kettle on and wrap up in true Irish style.
Until next time, stay cozy!
