Mc Connell Woollen Mills
Established at the turn of the century by fashion designer Anne Behan, Mc Connell Woollen Mills is a premium Irish knitwear company based in Inishloe, County Clare on Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way. Growing up on the west coast of Ireland had a big influence on Anne as she watched the women of her family instinctively knit Aran sweaters without patterns or guides, having learnt their craft as it was passed down through the generations.
“With a strong focus on heritage and craftsmanship, the collection draws inspiration from time- honoured work-wear pieces. The geansaí for example, is key – and traditional Aran and fisherman rib sweaters are reworked for a contemporary wardrobe. 1. The Inishloe Aran Sweater
The relaxed boyfriend design features a long dropped shoulder and a contrasting stripe at the crew neck. Includes traditional Aran honeycomb stitch in the main body, trimmed with diamond and cable. Contemporary Aran knitwear at its finest.
2. The Goleen Aran Sweater
The three band color design is inspired by the shades and hues of the Irish Atlantic coastline and the yarn is luxurious pure wool. Featuring a wide neck and a slim fit to give an unmistakable contemporary line along with exquisite Aran stitch work on the top band.
