Hi Everyone. This week I’m so excited to give you all a sneak preview of our brand new collection and a behind the scenes look at our fall/winter 2019 photo shoot. We’ve been busy gathering the finest Aran knitwear, Celtic jewelry and Irish homeware that I’m sure you’re all going to love! We’ll be officially launching the collection next Tuesday 1 October so watch this space. In the meantime, here’s a short video from the shoot to whet your appetite!
The Location
The location for our fall/winter 2019 shoot takes place in the heart of Yeats country in my favorite county Sligo. In this part of the country there’s an embarrassment of riches when it comes to dramatic backdrops. We narrowed it down to four locations;
1. Mullaghmore
Mullaghmore is a small fishing village nestling on the impressive Mullaghmore Peninsula. Great for a bracing beach walk and the mighty Benbulben provides a stunning backdrop.
2. Lissadell
Our coastal shots are on the stunninng Magherow peninsula at the bottom of the gardens of the iconic Lissadell House. Built in 1830 for Sir Robert Gore Booth, it was the childhood home of Constance (later Countess Markievicz) and Eva Gore Booth and as a frequent visitor to the house, Yeats befriended the sisters. They both feature in his famous poem ” Lissadell”
3. Benulben Loop
The Benbulben Loop walk is one of my favorite hikes in the country. It takes in lush woodlands and Atlantic ocean views in the foothills of this majestic mountain. Over the course of our 2 day shoot, we experienced lots of “soft” rain, some brilliant sunshine and plenty of that famous Irish mist as you can see from the photo above!
4. Eagles Rock
When it comes to dramatic backdrops, it does’t get much better than this! Eagles Rock is actually just over the border in County Leitrim and for my money, it is one of the most awe-inspiring rock formations in the country. It is Ireland’s highest free-standing tower, rising 330 meters above sea level.
The Photographer
Once we again we are truly blessed to be working with the hugely talented and much sought after Barry Mc Call, one of Ireland’s most celebrated photographers. He has photographed Hollywood stars such as Liam Neeson, Colin Farrell and Gabriel Byrne to name but a few as well as host of supermodels including Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell and Helena Christensen.
