New Arrivals 26. The Irish Tweed Edit

Hi everyone. I hope I find you all well this week. There's a particular morning in early autumn when the light goes soft and you reach for wool without even thinking about it. That's tweed weather, and it's my favorite time of year here at The Irish Store.

Tweed is one of those rare things that never really went away. It was woven in Irish mills long before any of us were around, and the same looms in Tipperary and Kerry are still turning out cloth with real character in it. This season's New Arrivals are proof. 

Here are the five pieces I'd bring home myself and I'm particularly excited about introducing stunning tweed skirts to our Irish Tweed Collection for the very first time! 

1. Irish Tweed Herringbone A-Line Skirt-Available Here

Woven in County Tipperary from 100% wool tweed, this is the skirt that quietly anchors a whole wardrobe. The classic herringbone weave gives it that timeless texture, and the A-line cut is genuinely flattering on everyone. Available in gray and navy, sizes 12 to 18.

Lulu's tip: pair the grey with a cream Aran sweater and tall boots, and you have a Sunday-in-Kinsale outfit sorted.

2. Women's Irish Tweed Overshirt Jacket-Available Here

Made in Ireland from 100% wool in a rich green tweed, this overshirt is the piece I reach for most. Clean silhouette, classic collar, button front. It works as a light jacket on a bright day or as a layer over a knit when the wind turns. Sizes S to XL.

Lulu's tip: the green plays beautifully against denim for a classic country casual look. 

3. Peaky Blinders Wool Cap-Available Here

The classic flat cap that started a thousand Peaky Blinders conversations. Expertly crafted by Mucros Weavers of County Kerry, with a double quilted lining. A proper Irish cap that only looks better with wear. One of our all-time bestsellers now available in an earthy reddish brown colorway. 

Lulu's tip: size up slightly if you're between sizes, wool tweed likes a little room.

4. Women's Classic Irish Wool Newsboy Cap in Red-Available Here

Another customer favorite in a brand new color for the season ahead. The classic newsboy with a Celtic twist, made in Killarney, County Kerry by Mucros Weavers from pure wool, with a soft leather flower motif at the side. The new red option is a warm, confident shade that lifts a grey winter coat instantly.

Lulu's tip: a red cap is the easiest way to make a neutral tweed outfit really pop! 

5. Irish Tweed Fleck A-Line Skirt-Available Here

Also woven in County Tipperary from 100% wool tweed, this one has a distinctive nepp fleck running through the cloth, little bursts of color that give it real depth up close. Available in navy and green, sizes 12 to 18.

Lulu's tip: pick out one of the fleck colors in your scarf or cap and the whole look ties together.

How to wear the tweed edit

The trick with tweed is not to wear it head to toe. One tweed piece, one soft knit, one simple base, and you're done. Let the cloth do the talking. Our new tweed skirts with one of our Aran Sweaters make the perfect pairing.  

Buy well, wear it for years, and it'll look better in a decade than it does today. That's the whole point of tweed.
