After last week’s trip to the home of the Aran sweater, I thought we could take a look at the top-selling stars of our recent Summer Collection. It’s been hugely popular and I’m thrilled that all The Irish Store family are loving the new lines as much as I do. And since the pieces from the new collection are inspired by places of outstanding beauty in Ireland, it’s also an excuse to take yet another trip around our beloved Emerald Isle!
1.The Newgrange Cardigan
I think this is my number one too! I just love the combination of beautifully crafted classic Aran stitches, the slightly flared shape which gives a nice flattering line and the 3 stylish wooden buttons. It may share its name with the mystical Stone Age monument in County Meath, but the look is decidedly modern.
2. The Inishowen Aran Sweater
This one’s for him and it’s a real winner. Horizontal lattice and diamond patterns coupled with vertical cable stitching give the traditional Aran sweater a fresh new twist. Crafted from the finest merino yarn, it comes in oatmeal or rich navy. Give him that Man of Aran look and picture him taking a brisk walk on Kinnagoe beach in on the Inishowen Peninsula from which this stand out Mens Aran sweaters takes its name.
3. The Shannon Shawl Cardigan
Taking its name from Ireland’s majestic river, The Shannon Aran Cardigan is an exquisitely crafted homage to the classic cable stitch. It comes in soft sea blue, classic cream, and warm oatmeal and features classic football buttons and a stylish shawl collar. This is a must-have wardrobe staple that teams up beautifully with your favourite jeans and will take you through all seasons in style.
4. The Dunmore Aran Sweater
I can see why this made the top 5. The design is classic with the lucky honeycomb stitch in the main body, trimmed with fisherman’s rope cable stitch on each side. It comes in khaki green and smart navy and the zip-up collar gives a modern stylish finish. Its namesake is the magnificent Dunmore Head, jutting into the Atlantic at the most westerly point of the Dingle Peninsula.
5.The Kenmare Aran Cardigan
Last but certainly not least in our top 5 as chosen by you is the stunning Kenmare Aran Cardigan. It shares its name with the gorgeous Kenmare Bay in the Kingdom of Kerry (below) and it’s no wonder it gets your vote! The beautifully soft two-tone yarn comes in shades of soft plum, dove grey and classic oatmeal beige. There are 2 cozy pockets to keep you extra snug and a beautifully detailed Trinity Knot zipper to give a final Celtic flourish.
So there you have it-our top 5 stars of the summer season. Why not pick your favorite today and get a massive 25% discount and a free gift! Our way of saying Happy Independence Day!
